The fan-favorite spinoff of the iconic quiz show will return in 2026 with possible host Colin Jost.

In its first season on Amazon Prime Video, Pop Culture Jeopardy! broke away from the traditional solo-player model by introducing teams of three contestants who collaborated to answer clues.
The series launched with an impressive 40-episode schedule, released weekly with three new episodes dropping every Wednesday throughout its run. The show quickly gained a dedicated audience, appealing to both trivia lovers and casual viewers drawn to its celebrity and entertainment-based questions.
The move to Netflix comes amid broader changes in Amazon’s approach to game shows. The streamer had initially aimed to build a weekly lineup of competition programs under a “Winning Wednesdays” banner. However, after a shift in strategy, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon mutually agreed to seek new distribution partners — leading to Netflix stepping in to continue the hit pop culture spinoff.
“Pop Culture Jeopardy!” is officially getting a second season — and it’s making a major move. After debuting on Amazon Prime Video last year, the trivia-based series will now stream on Netflix in 2026.
According to reports, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon reached a mutual decision to part ways as Amazon shifts its focus away from game shows. The studio then teamed up with Netflix to continue the hit pop culture competition.
The show’s format puts a modern twist on the legendary Jeopardy! setup, featuring categories centered on movies, music, TV, and celebrity culture. Contestants go head-to-head in a high-energy, tournament-style showdown that celebrates all things pop culture.
Colin Jost, best known for his sharp humor on Saturday Night Live, is currently in talks to return as host for Season 2. Fans of the show praised his lighthearted energy and quick wit during the first season.
“‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’ captivated an audience with its fun and energetic gameplay, building on the beloved franchise and offering fans an opportunity to test their zeitgeist knowledge,” said Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnering with the exemplary team at Netflix to bring more episodes to our passionate and loyal viewers.”
The first season premiered in December 2024 and wrapped up in March 2025. The team “Personality Hires” — made up of Emily Hogg, Zach Gozlan, and Miranda Onnen — won the $300,000 grand prize after a tense finale.
Produced by Michael Davies, “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” joins the growing lineup of entertainment content on Netflix, marking another big step in the streaming giant’s expansion into competition shows.
Meanwhile, the original Jeopardy! continues to thrive. Now in its 42nd season and hosted by former champion Ken Jennings, the long-running classic remains a cornerstone of American television — proving that trivia, whether traditional or pop culture-themed, never goes out of style.
