During a playful yet pointed segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, drag superstar Trixie Mattel led a hilarious “storytime” that turned into a full-blown roast of Eric Trump’s new memoir, Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation.

The former RuPaul’s Drag Race winner sat down with a group of children to read excerpts from the book, only for the session to quickly devolve into laughter, confusion, and mockery.

Mattel opened by asking the kids if they were afraid of her dazzling drag look. “No,” one replied. “You just look amazing.” She then jokingly told the children they could pick which book to read, noting, “This is, after all, a democracy — as of this morning, at least.” The kids reluctantly agreed to read about “President Trump’s least favorite son,” setting the tone for a comedic takedown.

As Mattel read passages praising Donald Trump as “the greatest father a son or daughter could ever have,” the kids were unimpressed. One child bluntly suggested skipping the entire storytime and going straight to lunch.

Another declared that the book “doesn’t make any sense,” while one cheekily added they would “kick him in the [bleep],” prompting Mattel to laugh, “Wow, escalating quickly this evening.”

The segment culminated in a literal shredding of Eric Trump’s memoir. Declaring it would “make excellent confetti,” Mattel and the kids gleefully fed the book into a shredder, celebrating as paper pieces flew.

The bit was part of a recurring Jimmy Kimmel Live! feature that humorously dissects political absurdities through satire.

Beyond the segment, Trixie Mattel’s career and influence have continued to expand far beyond drag performance. Rising to fame on RuPaul’s Drag Race and later All Stars, Mattel has since become a multifaceted entertainer—singer-songwriter, YouTuber, comedian, and beauty entrepreneur.

Her online presence, filled with music videos, comedy sketches, and makeup tutorials, has made her one of the most prominent figures in LGBTQ+ media. In 2025, she was featured on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s Creators Issue alongside YouTube CEO Neal Mohan and was recognized as one of the year’s most powerful influencers.

Her appearance on Kimmel also resonates with broader cultural and political currents. In recent years, drag artists and events like “drag queen storytime” have faced increasing scrutiny and legislative challenges in certain U.S. states.

Mattel and other performers have used satire, comedy, and visibility on mainstream platforms to push back against these efforts, turning humor into a form of resistance and advocacy for artistic freedom and queer representation.
