Britney Spears is once again sharing her truth — and this time, she’s revealing just how deeply her conservatorship affected her mind and body.

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared Sunday, the Grammy-winning pop icon said she believes she suffered “100 percent” brain damage during the years she was under the legal control of others.

The 43-year-old singer appeared to be responding to recent remarks from her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, who has been promoting his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, which reportedly includes personal claims about Spears and her time as a mother.

In her post, Spears reflected on her trauma through the lens of the Disney film Maleficent, using the story as a metaphor for her own lost sense of freedom.

“Remember the king tried to kill her but instead a guy secretly took her wings,” she wrote, before drawing a parallel to her life. “I do feel like my wings were taken away and brain damage happened to me a long time ago 100 percent. I have of course moved on from that troubling time in my life and I’m blessed to be alive.”

Spears went on to describe a “traumatic experience” she said lasted for four months, during which she “no longer had [her] private door” and was “illegally forced” to remain immobile. “Trust me, there’s A LOT I didn’t share in my book,” she admitted, referring to her 2023 best-selling memoir The Woman in Me. “Still things at this very moment I’ve kept hidden because it’s incredibly painful and sad.”

In The Woman in Me, Spears recounted being forced by her father, Jamie Spears, to enter a rehab facility and live under strict restrictions. “I couldn’t go outside. I couldn’t drive a car. I couldn’t take a bath in private,” she wrote at the time.

Later on Sunday, Spears posted again, recalling advice from her late grandfather, who once told her to never let others’ lies define her. “He said you stay fearless,” she wrote. “Don’t become crippled and scared.”

Her posts come as Federline continues to make headlines ahead of his memoir’s release. In an earlier statement, Spears pushed back on his public comments, saying, “To be loved unconditionally and with a naive heart like mine, always being threatened or made to believe I’m the bad one as they profit off my pain… I 100 percent beg to differ.”
