Mia Goth joins Ryan Gosling in Star Wars: Starfighter, a stand-alone film by Shawn Levy set after The Rise of Skywalker, releasing May 28, 2027.

Mia Goth has officially joined the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter, a stand-alone film in the Star Wars universe, starring opposite Ryan Gosling.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the highly anticipated feature is set to begin production in England this fall and will premiere in theaters on May 28, 2027.
Although plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, Starfighter is confirmed to be independent of the Skywalker Saga, marking a fresh chapter in the franchise.
Director Shawn Levy emphasized during April’s Star Wars Celebration in Japan that the film is “a new adventure” and “not a prequel, not a sequel,” taking place in a previously unexplored era — about five years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
Ryan Gosling will portray a central character tasked with protecting a young charge from dark forces. Mia Goth has been cast as one of the film’s primary villains, stepping into a role that was previously being negotiated with Mikey Madison before talks fell through due to financial disagreements.
Lucasfilm has declined to comment on casting developments or story specifics.
Goth’s involvement adds a compelling edge to the cast, given her reputation for intense and transformative roles. She rose to prominence with her performances in Ti West’s horror trilogy — X, Pearl, and MaXXXine — where she played various characters across different time periods.
Her upcoming projects include Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, where she stars alongside Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, and a secretive role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
With Levy at the helm and a fresh narrative direction, Star Wars: Starfighter is shaping up to be a unique and exciting installment in the galaxy far, far away. As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await more details on this bold new take on the Star Wars mythos.
