Killer Mike has publicly apologized to Steph and Ayesha Curry after drawing criticism for a joke he left under a TikTok that mocked Ayesha.

The Atlanta rapper made the apology during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay on Wednesday, Oct. 1, admitting his comment was ill-advised and saying his words had been “misconstrued.”

The incident began when content creator BooWoodz posted a skit in September that teased Ayesha Curry, suggesting she was trying to “be GloRilla” and urging her to “just drop an album” instead of seeking attention.

Killer Mike reacted to the clip, laughing and adding a comment that echoed the skit’s sentiment: “My n—a said she wanna go be Glo!!!” He followed up with, “Man Steph doesn’t deserve the embarrassment frfr. God Bless him.”

Steph Curry responded directly on social media, defending his wife and admonishing Killer Mike. “Naaaa not you Mike,” the Golden State Warriors star wrote. “I’m cool [staying] silent and letting these other clowns have [their] moment! And you’re the worst of them [BooWoodz].

But you’re better than that [Killer Mike]. Stay in your lane and let God keep blessing me like he is. We r good over here.”

On Club Shay Shay, Killer Mike said the backlash made him realize he had crossed a line. “Steph Curry, Ayesha Curry — boy, my wife done cussed me out,” he said, recounting calls from his daughters and messages from friends with NBA experience.

He acknowledged that Steph’s public check was a sign of respect and an important corrective. “I appreciated you checking it; it shows you have a tremendous amount of respect for me,” he told Sharpe, before apologizing directly to the Currys.

Killer Mike also admitted he was high when he made the comment. “I realized that maybe I shouldn’t smoke and get on Instagram,” he said, adding that his intent was to make a joke but that it “wasn’t my damn business.” He repeatedly expressed remorse, saying his remark had been a lapse in judgment and promising to be more careful in the future.

The exchange underscores how quickly social-media commentary can escalate when public figures weigh in. What began as a satirical TikTok led to a high-profile response from an A-list athlete and a public mea culpa from a prominent rapper.

For now, Killer Mike has acknowledged the misstep and offered a public apology, framing the episode as a lesson in restraint and accountability when engaging on social platforms.
