Henry Cavill has shared a hopeful update after suffering an on-set injury that interrupted production on Chad Stahelski’s long-gestating Highlander reboot.

The actor posted a series of Instagram photos this week showing himself working out while his left leg remained in a protective boot, accompanied by a brief, resolute caption: “Endure. In enduring, grow strong.”

Henry Cavill is staying positive after his recent on-set injury, reminding fans of his resilience as he continues to prepare for his role in the long-awaited Highlander reboot. Sharing photos from the gym with his leg still in a boot, Cavill stressed the importance of perseverance with the message, “Endure. In enduring, grow strong.”

The setback has delayed production, but the actor’s determination signals that he remains committed to bringing fresh life to the cult-classic franchise.

The new Highlander, directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski, brings together a powerhouse cast including Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Dave Bautista. With Cavill leading the film and continuing his recovery, excitement remains high despite the pause in filming.

For fans of the original 1986 classic, this reboot represents a chance to see the legendary story reimagined on a much larger scale, blending modern action filmmaking with the timeless mythology that made the series a cult favorite.

Cavill’s post is the clearest public indication yet of his recovery progress since the injury in September that forced the Amazon MGM production to pause. Insiders previously indicated the setback would likely push filming into early 2026, and Cavill’s update suggests he is following a rehabilitation routine while remaining engaged with physical training as he recovers.

The new Highlander — directed by Chad Stahelski, best known for his work on the John Wick franchise — features a high-profile ensemble that includes Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela and Max Zhang.

The screenplay is by Michael Finch, and producers on the project include Neal H. Moritz and United Artists chief Scott Stuber; Stahelski’s production banner, 87Eleven Entertainment, is also attached alongside Nick Nesbitt, Josh Davis and Louise Rosner.

The reboot’s path to the screen has been protracted. The project was first announced in 2009 at Summit Entertainment, with Stahelski joining the effort in 2016 and Cavill officially attached as the lead in 2021.

Earlier this year, United Artists acquired the project from Lionsgate, signaling renewed momentum and fresh studio backing — but Cavill’s injury has temporarily stalled those plans.

The original Highlander, released in 1986 and led by Christopher Lambert with Sean Connery in a supporting role, failed to find box-office success on its initial run but later achieved cult status through home video, spawning sequels, a television series and an expanded franchise of tie-in novels.

The current reboot aims to reimagine that mythos for modern audiences while leveraging Stahelski’s action pedigree and the star power of its cast.

Cavill, meanwhile, remains attached to a slate of other projects, including Enola Holmes 3 for Netflix, Amazon MGM’s Voltron, and Lionsgate’s action thriller In the Grey.

His Instagram update is likely to reassure fans and collaborators that he is actively working toward a return to full duty, even as the Highlander production adjusts its schedule to accommodate his recovery.
