Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty has become one of this year’s biggest streaming success stories.

The romantic drama’s third season pulled in an incredible 70 million viewers worldwide within its first 70 days — a 65% jump from Season 2, according to Amazon. That kind of growth is rare for a show in its third season, proving that fans are more hooked than ever on Belly’s love story.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is how the audience kept growing week after week. Instead of peaking at the premiere, Season 3’s viewership continued to climb, reaching its highest numbers during the finale in mid-September.

It also became the most-watched Prime Video season ever among women aged 18–34, showing that the series continues to connect deeply with its target audience.

The show isn’t just thriving in the U.S. either. Amazon says about 60% of viewers came from outside the country, with especially strong numbers in the U.K., Germany, and Brazil. That kind of international success highlights how relatable the show’s themes — love, heartbreak, and growing up — truly are.

However, there’s still some mystery behind the numbers. Amazon hasn’t explained exactly what it means by “viewers.” Does that count anyone who watched for a few minutes, or only those who finished episodes? Without a clear definition, it’s hard to compare the show’s success with others.

Still, the upward trend and record-breaking growth leave no doubt that The Summer I Turned Pretty has become a genuine global hit.

Adding to the excitement, author and showrunner Jenny Han has confirmed she’s working on a feature film to wrap up the story. She’ll be co-writing and directing the project, although the plot remains under wraps — and it’s not yet known whether the movie will hit theaters or debut directly on Prime Video.

From its dreamy summer aesthetic to its emotional storytelling, The Summer I Turned Pretty has clearly found the formula for lasting success. Season 3’s huge numbers prove that the series isn’t just surviving — it’s thriving. And with a movie on the horizon, fans have even more reason to stay tuned.
