Anna Delvey, the so-called “fake heiress” made famous by Netflix’s series Inventing Anna, is rumored to be joining the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars (DWTS).

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was convicted in 2019 of multiple charges, including grand larceny and theft of services, for posing as a wealthy German heiress and scamming thousands of dollars from New York’s elite.

After serving nearly four years in prison, she was released in 2021 for good behavior and has been on house arrest since, facing possible deportation for overstaying her visa.

According to Page Six, which first reported the news, Delvey’s house arrest conditions have been relaxed. She now has a Social Security number, can return to social media, and is allowed to travel within a 70-mile radius of her East Village apartment in New York City.

The report suggests she has received special permission to travel to Los Angeles, where DWTS is filmed.

Delvey has gained significant notoriety, especially after the release of Inventing Anna, a miniseries by Shonda Rhimes featuring Julia Garner as Delvey.

Since then, she has been involved in several projects, including working on a docuseries about her life post-Inventing Anna, starting a celebrity dinner club, hosting a weekly podcast, and even launching a fashion public relations agency.

Dancing With the Stars will return on September 17, with an official announcement of the Season 33 cast expected on September 4. ABC has not yet commented on Delvey’s rumored participation.
