Archie Renaux reveals engagement to Annie O’Hara at Alien: Romulus premiere, plans wedding soon.
Archie Renaux, the actor best known for his role as Malyen “Mal” Oretsev in the popular Netflix series Shadow and Bone, has confirmed his engagement to longtime girlfriend Annie O’Hara.
The announcement was made exclusively to PEOPLE during the Los Angeles premiere of Alien: Romulus on Monday, August 12.
Renaux, who stars in the latest installment of the Alien franchise, shared that he proposed to O’Hara last year, marking a significant milestone in their relationship. “We’re engaged,” Renaux said with a smile. “It’s been an exciting time for us.”
Despite their engagement, Renaux revealed that they haven’t yet set a wedding date. “We kind of need to get our ducks in a row,” he admitted. “We’ve got a few things to plan and get ready for in this next year.”
The couple’s three-year-old daughter, Iris, is also set to play a special role in the wedding. Renaux hinted at Iris’s involvement in their big day, saying, “She goes to school next September, so she’ll certainly have a job I’m sure.” Although he didn’t specify what Iris’s role would be, it’s clear that she will be an important part of the celebration.

Alvarez, known for his work on horror films, co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues.
While Ridley Scott, the original director of Alien (1979) and its sequels Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), did not direct Alien: Romulus, he remains involved as a producer. Renaux expressed his excitement about being part of such a legendary franchise, noting how much the Alien films meant to him and his family growing up.
“It’s amazing to be a part of the Alien legacy,” Renaux said. “These films mean so much to a generation of people. My dad’s a big fan of Alien, and so growing up, I remember watching it with him when I was a little kid, obviously fully unaware that I’d one day get to be a part of this legacy.”
Renaux went on to share how special this moment is for him, both personally and professionally. “So, yeah, it means the world,” he reiterated. “It really, really does mean the world. So you know whatever I sort of go on to do in my career, I’ll always have this, and, yeah, it’s a very, very special moment in my career.”
