In a candid conversation on the BBC podcastMiss Me?“, pop sensation Billie Eilish opened up about a surprising ghosting experience that left her in disbelief.

Speaking with hosts Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver, the 22-year-old singer described an unexpected and bewildering event from last December that she called the “craziest” ghosting experience of her life.

“I had a crazy ghosting happen actually this December. It was insane,” Eilish shared, emphasizing the shock and confusion she felt.

Despite her fame and success, Eilish is no stranger to dating challenges, having had low-key romances with rapper Brandon “Q” Adams, actor Matthew Tyler Vorce, and The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford over the years.

The incident in question involved someone Eilish had known for years. The two had made plans, confirmed them over the phone, and even arranged a specific time and place to meet.

But when the time came, the person was a no-show. “I was like, ‘Did you die? Did you literally die?'” Eilish joked. The complete lack of communication that followed was what truly stunned her.

“It was somebody that I’d also known for years and had a plan, day of, on the phone, making a plan, this is my address, be there at 3 — never heard from him again. Ever. I couldn’t believe it.”

Eilish did not hold back her feelings about the incident, expressing her frustration and disappointment. “I was like, ‘What a f—ing little pathetic man.

What a tiny little man,'” she said, adding that to this day, she has never received any form of explanation or follow-up message from the individual. “It was literally unbelievable. To this day, never texted me again.”

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Eilish later found out that the person was dating someone else. “I did see that he was dating someone,” she revealed.

This realization left her even more perplexed. “And I was like, ‘Oh’. I didn’t know people still did that. I genuinely didn’t know people did that.”

This revelation on the podcast comes on the heels of Eilish’s discussion with Rolling Stone, where she spoke about maintaining a friendly relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Jesse Rutherford.

Despite their breakup in May 2023, Eilish holds Rutherford in high regard. “That’s my guy, truly one of my favorite people in the world,” she told Rolling Stone.

Eilish and Rutherford’s split was confirmed by her representative in May 2023, after the couple had been together for less than a year. They were last seen together publicly at Coachella in April 2023.

Reflecting on her dating life, Eilish humorously declared to Rolling Stone that she never wanted to be in a relationship again. “I plan on never dating again,” she said, though she quickly clarified that this was not entirely serious.

“That’s not true, obviously. But no, I don’t see myself being serious with anyone until I find someone that really feels right to me, and that is not interesting to me right now.”

In the same interview, Eilish also discussed her journey in understanding her sexuality and the decision to keep that aspect of her life private initially.

She shared insights about her song “Lunch” from her album “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” describing how its sexual themes were part of her self-discovery. “That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,” she said.

Eilish explained that the song’s creation spanned a period before and after she had her first experiences with a girl.

“I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after.”

Eilish candidly acknowledged her longstanding attraction to women, an aspect of her identity she had only recently come to fully understand.

“I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand — until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina,” she said.

Billie Eilish’s openness about her personal experiences, from being ghosted to her evolving understanding of her sexuality, highlights her willingness to share her authentic self with her fans.

Her stories resonate with many, offering a glimpse into the often unpredictable and challenging world of relationships, even for a global superstar.
