Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism tour proved it can be both spectacle and intimacy on Sunday night at the Kia Forum.

The British pop star turned the arena into a playground of choreography and theatrical staging while somehow keeping the energy personal — a tricky balance that she landed throughout a tight, relentless set.

From the moment the lights dipped and the opening beats swelled, Lipa established the vibe: confident, cinematic and built to move. She ran through radio-ready anthems that get hands in the air and quieter, moodier songs that demanded hush-and-listen moments.

That mix meant the show never fell into a single groove; it bent toward danceable pop but saved room for genuine emotional peaks.

What made night two stand out wasn’t just the hits — though the singalong reaction to songs like “Physical” and “Levitating” was electric — but the way Lipa and her team used the space. A two-tiered main stage fed into a circular B-stage, and she used every inch.

At times she disappeared into choreography and costume changes, only to pop back up — sometimes literally — soaring above the crowd during a slow, powerful number. Little production tricks, like a fur coat that doubled as a clever cover for aerial safety gear, felt smart rather than showy.

There were cinematic set pieces too: crashing-wave visuals during the opening, a literal ring of fire later in the night, and a brilliant choreography-to-transition moment where the dancers led a prelude that resembled a retro fitness warm-up before launching into “Physical.”

It was playful, stylish and perfectly on-brand for an artist who knows how to make pastiche feel fresh.

But the show’s secret weapon was the crowd. The audience on Sunday ranged from kids there with their parents to groups of friends in their 20s and 30s and couples who’ve been fans for longer than most concertgoers have been alive.

The variety made the performance feel communal — a rare thing in big-arena pop concerts. Lipa frequently reached into the crowd, posing for photos, hugging fans and making eye contact in a way that turned stadium scale into small-studio intimacy.

Stylistically, Lipa’s wardrobe changes were a highlight without being distracting. She proved a simple tee can read chic under stage lights, and her flashier costumes amplified moments without stealing focus. Costume, choreography, set and singer all worked in service of the song — not the other way around.

If there’s any critique, it’s that the show occasionally glossed over transitions in a way that felt a hair too polished — leaving some moments that might’ve benefited from a little more spontaneity.

Still, that sense of polish also kept the momentum roaring from start to finish, and for many fans that’s exactly what they wanted: an unforgettable night.

Social feeds afterward were full of fan excitement and viral clips, with many praising Lipa’s ability to marry big production values with real, heartfelt engagement. The tour’s theme — optimism, in full view — lands in a way that feels earned, not marketed.

Lipa’s performance is an exercise in confident joy: the kind of pop that invites you to dance and, every so often, catch your breath.

Dua Lipa returns to the Kia Forum for the final two sold-out nights on Tuesday and Wednesday. If night two is any indicator, those shows will keep the city talking — and dancing — long after the last encore.
