George Clooney is ready to say goodbye to his brunette hair — and fast.

During a June 2 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the 64-year-old actor joked that his current hair situation makes him look like he’s having “some horrible midlife crisis.”

Clooney, who’s known for his iconic silver hair, had to dye it a dark brown for his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck. But now that the show is wrapping up on Sunday, June 8, Clooney is counting the days until he can go back to his signature look.

“It’s bad,” he laughed, while wearing a hat to hide the awkward grow-out. “It’s still dark on top, but it’s gray at the bottom.” He admitted he hasn’t dyed it in two months, and the uneven color has become tough to manage.

When Meyers complimented his stage appearance, Clooney wasn’t convinced. “Sure,” he said sarcastically, before agreeing that in real life, the look screams, “trying to get away with something.”

“It really looks bad,” he said bluntly. “It looks like [I’m] going through some horrible midlife crisis. I’m 64 — midlife is a little stretch.”

Clooney revealed that his wife, Amal Clooney, has been amused by the whole thing but is just as ready for the dark dye to disappear. “She thinks it’s funny, but she’ll be glad when it’s gone.”

As for what’s next? Clooney is open to drastic measures. “I may have a shaved head. I may look like Yul Brynner,” he joked, referring to the famously bald actor.

Clooney took on the role of legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow in the stage adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck, based on the 2005 film he co-wrote and directed. The play follows Murrow’s bold reporting on Sen. Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.

The production has been well-received and earned multiple Tony nominations, including one for Clooney himself — Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play. Still, Clooney is keeping expectations low for awards night, saying, “I’m not thinking very positively about winning a Tony.”

The play also picked up nominations for Best Sound Design, Scenic Design, Costume Design, and Lighting Design.

Good Night, and Good Luck opened on April 3 to a star-studded crowd and marks Clooney’s first-ever appearance on Broadway. The final performance will be held on Sunday, June 8, followed by the Tony Awards that same night.

If Clooney has his way, he’ll be walking that red carpet with a fresh new (or old) look — and definitely no hat.
