Pixar has officially announced that a third Incredibles movie is on the way, 20 years after the release of the original film.

The news was shared during the D23 fan event on August 9, much to the excitement of fans who have been waiting for another adventure with the super-powered Parr family.

The first Incredibles movie was released in 2004 and quickly became a favorite among audiences, earning an Oscar for Best Animated Film.

It introduced viewers to Bob Parr, also known as Mr. Incredible, and his wife Helen, who is Elastigirl, as they balanced family life with fighting crime.

The movie’s success led to a sequel, Incredibles 2, in 2018, which held the title of Pixar’s highest-grossing film until this summer, when Inside Out 2 surpassed it at the box office.

Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter, who voice Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, respectively, are expected to return for this new installment. Brad Bird, the director of the first two films and the voice behind the iconic character Edna Mode, had previously mentioned in a 2018 interview that while he wasn’t focused on making another Incredibles movie at that time, he wasn’t ruling out the possibility.

Now, it seems the time has come for him to dive back into the world of superheroes.

Fans of Disney and Pixar have plenty to look forward to in the coming years. Along with Incredibles 3, other animated sequels in the works include Frozen 3, Zootopia 2, Toy Story 5, and Moana 2.

Pixar also has an original film, Elio, set to hit theaters on June 13, 2025, and a newly announced project titled Hoppers is on the horizon.

While details about the plot and release date for Incredibles 3 are still under wraps, the announcement alone is enough to get fans excited for the return of the Parr family and their next big adventure.
