Janet Jackson returns to TV after 7 years with a stunning performance at the 2025 American Music Awards, accepting the Icon Award and reflecting on her journey.

Janet Jackson made a triumphant return to live television on Memorial Day, performing for the first time in seven years at the 2025 American Music Awards in Las Vegas.
The 59-year-old superstar wowed the crowd with a medley of her classic hits “Someone to Call My Lover” and “All For You” before accepting the prestigious Icon Award.
In a heartfelt speech, Jackson humbly reflected on her journey: “I don’t consider myself an icon. My family’s dream was never about fame — it was always about the love of music.” She added, “My story, my family’s story, is truly an American story.”
The youngest of the legendary Jackson family, Janet has built a legacy of her own with chart-topping hits, 11 AMAs, 5 Grammys, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
Her 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814 remains historic, producing seven top-five Billboard Hot 100 hits.
Her 2001 track “Someone to Call My Lover” recently made a comeback thanks to TikTok, proving her music still resonates with new generations.
Despite her success, Janet’s career took a hit after the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show incident with Justin Timberlake, who later apologized in 2021 for his role in the controversy.
Jackson, who began a Las Vegas residency in December 2024, will perform three more shows at Resorts World Theatre this week.
