Jelly Roll is opening up about one of the darkest chapters of his life — and how it changed him for the better.

During Tuesday’s episode of the Human School podcast, the country star got candid about his past infidelity, calling it “one of the worst mistakes” he’s ever made. The “Need a Favor” singer revealed that stepping out on his wife, Bunnie XO, was a deeply painful experience that forced him to confront his own choices and priorities.

“It was the worst moment of my life,” Jelly Roll admitted, explaining that the affair was a wake-up call that made him realize he couldn’t keep living the way he had been. Despite being deeply in love with Bunnie, he says he fell into bad habits and toxic environments that normalized the behavior.

“At the time, everyone I was hanging around was cheating on their wives,” he said, comparing it to how substance abuse once seemed routine in his world. “I thought it was normal — that’s how lost I was.”

The 39-year-old singer shared that the experience humbled him and taught him important lessons about love, loyalty, and accountability. Since then, he’s worked hard to rebuild trust and repair the emotional damage his actions caused. “I’m not proud of it,” he said. “But I’m proud of who I’ve become because of it.”

Jelly Roll credited his wife, Bunnie XO, for her grace and forgiveness through it all. The two married in 2016, briefly split in 2018, and have since come back stronger — even renewing their vows last year.

While he didn’t go into detail about the affair itself, Bunnie previously mentioned their temporary breakup in a TikTok video, confirming they hit a rough patch years ago.

Now, Jelly Roll says the couple’s relationship has evolved into something deeper and more honest. “We’re better people because of what we went through,” he reflected, noting that the painful chapter ultimately strengthened their bond.

While it’s unclear if he “asked God for a favor,” as he sings in his hit song, Jelly Roll seems profoundly grateful for the second chance his wife gave him — and for the growth that followed. “Bunnie gave me grace when I didn’t deserve it,” he said. “And that changed everything.”
