During a recent concert on her Lifetimes Tour, pop star Katy Perry experienced a nerve-wracking moment when a stage prop malfunctioned mid-performance.

The incident occurred Sunday night at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Australia, where Perry was performing in a large metal sphere designed to lift her above the audience.

As the prop began to ascend, it suddenly tilted to one side, forcing Perry to hold onto the frame to keep her balance.

Video of the mishap quickly made its way across social media, showing the visibly shaken singer gripping the structure while trying to maintain her composure.

Fortunately, Perry was unharmed, and the performance continued after the issue was addressed.

The incident came just one day after a similar onstage scare involving Beyoncé, whose flying car prop began to tip during her June 29 show in Houston.

The timing of these two high-profile malfunctions has raised concerns over the increasing use of complex aerial stage designs in major pop tours.

Perry is currently touring in support of her seventh studio album, 143, which was released in September 2024.

The Lifetimes Tour kicked off in April in Mexico City and is set to conclude on December 7 at Etihad Park in Abu Dhabi.

This tour also marks Perry’s return to major U.S. stages for the first time since 2018, with upcoming headlining performances at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on July 15 and Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 11.

In an interview with Variety earlier this year, Perry spoke about the ambitious nature of the Lifetimes Tour, saying, “I’m definitely pushing the boundaries with these concerts… I want to create something that’s never been seen or heard before.”

She also emphasized the importance of reconnecting with her fans through music that brings a sense of nostalgia: “I’m there to let them tap into the nostalgia… I really just want to reconnect. I want to lock eyes with my fans.”

While Perry’s representatives have yet to comment on the onstage mishap, the singer’s resilience and professionalism have earned praise from fans and fellow performers alike.
