‘On Call Her Daddy,’ Kim Kardashian recounts chaos, emotional strain, and the moment she chose to leave Kanye West for her own well-being and her kids.

Kim Kardashian is finally pulling back the curtain on the most difficult years of her marriage to Kanye West, revealing the emotional toll, chaotic incidents and final breaking point that led to their divorce.
In her Oct. 15 appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the 44-year-old reality star and entrepreneur spoke with rare bluntness about how the relationship spiraled over time.
She admitted that she tends to “only remember the good” in past relationships, but said there were undeniable moments that crossed into toxicity — especially as West’s mental health struggles intensified.
Kardashian said that when someone experiences a mental breakdown for the first time, “you wanna be super supportive.” She tried to help and stay involved, but she claimed West was “not willing to make changes” she believed were necessary. With four young children at home, she said enduring ongoing instability became impossible.
One of the most shocking examples she shared involved West allegedly giving away their luxury cars without warning. Kardashian recalled coming home to find all five Lamborghinis gone during one of his “episodes.” She described that uncertainty — not knowing “what you’re gonna get when you wake up” — as emotionally exhausting and frightening, not necessarily in a physical sense but in terms of safety, stability and finances.
She also pointed to moments when West publicly lashed out at her mother, Kris Jenner, and her sisters, creating an environment she felt was harmful for their family.
Kardashian said deciding to end the marriage was incredibly difficult, especially because leaving with kids “changes everyone’s life forever.” But she ultimately chose to walk away when her mental health was suffering and her ability to parent was compromised.
“I had to save myself in order to be a better mom for everyone,” she explained, adding that her children — North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6 — will one day understand.
Despite everything, Kardashian said she does not view the marriage as a failure. “An over a decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure,” she insisted. She also shared that her eldest daughter, North, keeps teasing her to start dating again and “get remarried.”
While West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018 and has had documented manic and depressive episodes, Kardashian avoided blame and focused on the impact of unpredictability on her own well-being.
Now moving forward with new projects, including season 7 of The Kardashians and her upcoming Hulu drama All’s Fair, she says she’s older, stronger and unwilling to tolerate unhealthy dynamics ever again.
