Lady Gaga Delays Miami ‘Mayhem Ball’ Concert Over Vocal Strain
Lady Gaga left fans heartbroken in Miami after postponing her highly anticipated “Mayhem Ball” concert just moments before she was set to hit the stage.
The singer announced the news through Instagram Stories on Thursday night, explaining that vocal strain forced her to cancel the final Miami stop of her tour.
In her post, Gaga expressed deep regret for the last-minute decision, calling it “hard and agonizing.” She revealed that during rehearsal the night before, as well as during her vocal warmup that evening, she noticed her voice was extremely strained.
Both her doctor and vocal coach advised against performing, warning that pushing through could cause long-term damage to her vocal cords.
“I am really so so sorry but I need to postpone tonight’s show in Miami,” she wrote. “Even though this was a hard and agonizing decision, I would be more afraid of the long-term implications on my voice.” She added that she is working quickly to reschedule and offered her “sincerest apologies for any disappointment, let down, or inconvenience” the cancellation caused.
The canceled concert marked the last of three Miami shows on the “Mayhem Ball” tour, which kicked off in July at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. Gaga is scheduled to head to New York City next, where she has back-to-back performances this weekend, along with a much-anticipated appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
However, it’s unclear if her vocal strain will impact those upcoming events.
Despite the setback, Gaga still managed to give fans something new today. She dropped her latest track, “The Dead Dance,” along with a Tim Burton-directed music video. The dark and theatrical video was timed with her cameo appearance in Netflix’s hit series Wednesday, further fueling excitement among her fanbase.
