Lindsay Lohan moves beyond Netflix rom-coms, eyes darker roles, a second child, and reveals beauty tips in her latest Elle cover story.

Lindsay Lohan is switching things up. In her new Elle cover story, the 38-year-old actress opens up about stepping away from Netflix romantic comedies—and what’s next for her career and personal life.
After starring in Falling for Christmas (2022), Irish Wish (2024), and the upcoming Our Little Secret, Lohan says it’s time for a new chapter.
“I can’t do movies like these forever,” she admits, though she still loves making films that bring people joy. Her Netflix run was something she “manifested” during the pandemic, even journaling about working with the streamer.
Next up: she’s returning to her iconic roots with Freakier Friday, the sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday, hitting theaters August 8. Reuniting with Jamie Lee Curtis, Lohan promises it’ll be the kind of feel-good movie audiences need right now.
Off-screen, life is all about balance for the actress, who now lives in Dubai with her husband, Bader Shammas, and their son, Luai.
“My husband, my son, and me—that’s the most important thing,” she says. She’s also thinking about expanding her family, saying she wants a second child so her son has someone to grow up with—and joking that she needs “more than one kid to take care of me when I’m older.”
Lohan’s also dipping her toes into beauty. She’s developing her own skincare line and shared her routine, which includes lemon juice, daily eye patches, and occasional treatments like Morpheus8 and, yes, Botox. “Everyone does Botox,” she said casually.
Looking ahead, Lohan will star in Count My Lies, a Hulu adaptation of Sophie Stava’s debut novel.
She’s also dreaming of roles that are a bit edgier—like a dark comedy in the style of Mean Girls, or working with directors like Quentin Tarantino. “I’d love something Sopranos-y,” she says, leaning into her Italian roots.
Lohan’s message is clear: the comeback is real—and she’s just getting started.
