Paramount+ has officially renewed Taylor Sheridan’s tense CIA thriller Lioness for a third season, the streamer confirmed — putting to rest months of industry whispers and giving fans another round of cloak-and-dagger drama to look forward to.

The series, which stars Zoe Saldaña as Joe and Nicole Kidman as Kaitlyn alongside Michael Kelly’s Byron, returned for a second season in October 2024 and now has the green light to continue. Season 2’s logline hinted at mounting pressure and deeper personal sacrifices: Joe, Kaitlyn and Byron enlist a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a previously unknown threat, forcing Joe to reckon with the cost of leading the covert program.

That emotional core — the toll of duty on relationships and identity — is a throughline the show has mined since its debut, and Sheridan’s stamp on the storytelling keeps the series grounded even as it cranks up the tension.

Lioness sits among a growing slate of Sheridan projects on Paramount+. Alongside Tulsa King (Season 3 debuted Sept. 21), Mayor of Kingstown (Season 4 arrives in October) and Landman (Season 2 slated for November), Sheridan’s fingerprints are all over the streamer’s high-stakes lineup.

He’s executive producing Lioness with a team that includes David C. Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman and others; the series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Fans and TV watchers who’ve followed the show’s intense mix of espionage and personal drama have been clamoring for more — and the renewal is the payoff.

While the specifics of Season 3’s plot and which new faces might join the cast remain under wraps, the show’s ensemble already includes Morgan Freeman, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett and several others, leaving plenty of room for fresh storylines and surprising alliances.

Expect the next chapter to push Joe into even tougher moral choices and to deepen the show’s exploration of loyalty, leadership and sacrifice. For now, viewers can rewatch Season 2 to catch subtle set-ups and prepare for whatever Sheridan and his writers have planned.
