Lorde crashes a Sydney club night dedicated to her music, surprising fans with hugs, singing, and a spontaneous dancefloor takeover.

Lorde gave fans the ultimate surprise on Sunday night when she unexpectedly showed up at a Lorde-themed party in Sydney.
The event, held at Mary’s Underground, was packed with fans celebrating her music when the New Zealand pop star casually slipped into the crowd.
Attendees were stunned as Lorde—initially incognito—started mingling, shaking hands, and chatting with fans. Once recognized, the room exploded in excitement.
One fan described it as a “total thrill,” noting that Lorde took time to connect with people, hearing stories about how her music impacted their lives.
She stayed for about 30 minutes, singing along to hits including her latest single What Was That.

When a remix of Girl, so confusing started playing, Lorde couldn’t resist jumping back into the crowd to lip-sync and soak up the moment—even as her team tried to escort her out.
According to EMI Australia, the appearance was entirely Lorde’s spontaneous idea, with no planning or label involvement.
Venue staff had only suspected something might happen after Lorde’s security dropped by earlier.
This pop-up follows her surprise fan meetup in New York last month, where she premiered What Was That in a park gathering that went viral—and was later shut down by police.
