Nancy Rodriguez, known for her appearance on the third season of Netflix’s “Love Is Blind,” has embarked on a new romantic journey.

After being left at the altar by Bartise Bowden, Rodriguez went through a significant period of self-reflection and healing. This ultimately led her to find love with a fan who reached out to her through social media.

Reflecting on her experience on “Love Is Blind,” Rodriguez described the emotional toll it took on her. “Having my heart poured into a blender and turned on for my family to see,” she said, capturing the raw emotion of being left at the altar.

The public breakup led her to seek therapy, a decision that became a crucial part of her healing process.

“Post-show, I started therapy because of the heartbreak,” she shared at the Wildly Better Well-Being event in New York City, which celebrated the launch of Roxanne Kaiser’s Proxy gummies. “It was just like, ‘What do I do now? Could I ever really love someone again?’”

Rodriguez’s new relationship began in an unexpected place: the comment section of one of her Instagram posts.

“It started in the comment section at one of my posts and I remember engaging like I do with most of my posts,” she recounted. “Then I saw his profile picture again in my DMs, and I was like, ‘Huh, OK.’”

The fan’s persistence and intentionality in their messages caught Rodriguez’s attention. Unlike others who had messaged her, his approach was consistent and thoughtful.

“He was so intentional with voice memos, waiting for my response, asking me questions back,” Rodriguez explained. This genuine interaction set the stage for a deeper connection.

Despite their growing connection, Rodriguez had reservations. She didn’t know what he looked like due to the limited photos on his profile. “I could have seen him in the street, but I don’t know who that guy is. It was his personality that shined in our messages back and forth. It was giving Love Is Blind!” she said.

Their relationship coincided with a significant change in Rodriguez’s life. She was in the process of moving to New York City, while her new boyfriend lived in Boston. Despite the distance, he made efforts to visit her, further solidifying their bond.

“At the beginning — I’ll be completely transparent — I had this protective shield for myself because I had fallen in love with myself over the last two years,” Rodriguez admitted.

Her experiences on the show and subsequent therapy had made her cautious. However, meeting him in person for the first time in February 2023 changed everything.

“It was so clear that this could be something,” she said. “This is a good person that I want to get to know. He made me feel safe and he gave to me so much that I didn’t realize I needed at that time when we met. He truly is an inspirational person.”

One of the surprising aspects of their relationship was her boyfriend’s interest in “Love Is Blind.” Rodriguez shared a humorous anecdote about his dedication to the show.

“He even tells me this funny story that it was one of the weeks of the weddings, new episodes were dropping, and he was at a party, a very fancy party for work, and everyone wanted to go out after,” she recalled.

“And they’re like, ‘Aren’t you coming with this?’ He’s like, ‘No, I got to go. New episodes of Love Is Blind are dropping tonight.’”

Since then, her boyfriend has moved to New York City, allowing them to explore the city together. “We get to experience a lot together and learn a lot about each other,” Rodriguez said. Their shared experiences and mutual support have strengthened their relationship.

Looking back on her journey, Rodriguez emphasized the importance of self-love. Re-watching episodes of “Love Is Blind” allowed her to reflect on her growth and the lessons she learned.

“Part of the heartbreak was healing that part of me [that’s] always being there for other people, but then never being able to show up for myself,” she said. “Now I’m showing up for myself in a way that I can also have a relationship because I give into myself first and then, I’m able to give to others.”

Rodriguez credits her journey of self-love and mental health for helping her reach a place where she could embrace love again.

“Self-love is huge in my journey of mental health and understanding what I deserve and being able to receive also that love in my life,” she added. “I’m so happy with my partner.”
