Netflix unveils “The Resurrected” teaser: Shu Qi & Lee Sinje star in a dark supernatural revenge thriller premier Oct. 9, 2025.
Netflix has unveiled the first teaser for The Resurrected, its upcoming Chinese-language supernatural revenge thriller, marking the streaming debuts of acclaimed actresses Shu Qi and Lee Sinje.
Co-directed by Leste Chen (“Eternal Summer”) and Hsu Chao-jen (“Living”), the series blends dark fantasy with gritty human drama in the fictional metropolis of Benkha.
At the heart of The Resurrected are two mothers, each driven by grief and fury after their daughters fall prey to an elaborate fraud-and-kidnapping ring. Determined to exact vengeance on those responsible, they enlist the aid of a mysterious goddess who grants them the power to resurrect Fu Meng-Po’s character—the ringleader of the criminal syndicate they blame for their daughters’ suffering.
However, as the teaser reveals, revenge is never straightforward. Their relentless campaign of retribution only fans the flames of violence, forcing both women to confront the moral limits of their quest.
Shu Qi, whose career spans major international productions and award-winning art house films, expressed excitement about the series’ pioneering premise. “When I first received the script, I felt it was a bold and groundbreaking story—not just for me as an actress, but also for Chinese-language series in general,” she said, adding that even rough cuts during dubbing left her exclaiming, “Wow!”
Lee Sinje, known for her Golden Horse–winning performance in Island Etude, praised the narrative’s intensity and emotional depth. “I’ve never encountered a female-driven story that’s so intense, a little wild, and deeply emotional. It was such a thrill to be a part of it,” she commented, expressing anticipation for global audiences to experience the series’ full impact.
Adding dimension to the central conflict, Fu Meng-Po takes on the villainous role of the scam mastermind, describing the storyline as “both fantastical and thrilling, with moral conflicts that are absolutely gripping.”
The ensemble cast also features Golden Horse winner Alyssa Chia and Thai star Sukollawat “Weir” Kanaros in pivotal special appearances, alongside rising talents Chung Hsin-ling, Caitlin Fang, Lin Ting-yi, Liu Chu-ping, Vivi Chen, Rexen Cheng, and Patrick Nattawat Finkler.
Produced by Bernard T. K. Yang and Emma Duan, The Resurrected benefits from a screenplay by Shen Yang, Yi Shuai-jie, and Luo Hsiao-rui, who craft a narrative that seamlessly intertwines supernatural elements with the raw emotions of parental loss and vengeance.
The series represents a key entry in Netflix’s 2025 Chinese-language slate, following titles such as Forget You Not and I Am Married… But!, with another two-part mystery, Had I Not Seen the Sun, slated for later this year.
Set to premiere globally on Netflix on October 9, 2025, The Resurrected promises a bold exploration of justice, obsession, and the price of vengeance—delivered through powerful performances and striking visual storytelling.
