Playboi Carti has been charged with misdemeanor assault in Utah following an alleged altercation involving his limousine driver earlier this month.

Authorities in Wasatch County confirmed that the incident occurred on October 2 in Park City, where the rapper was reportedly headed to rehearsals at the time.

According to police reports obtained by TMZ, the driver, identified as Reynolds, told officers that an argument broke out inside the vehicle between Carti — whose real name is Jordan Terrell Carter — and his girlfriend. Reynolds claimed that when he attempted to intervene during the dispute, Carti became physically aggressive and struck him.

The driver further alleged that the rapper’s head of security got involved to break up the confrontation and that another driver for the same transportation company witnessed the altercation.

Law enforcement officers responded to the scene shortly after the alleged incident. They documented Reynolds’ reported injuries and confirmed that an investigation into the matter is ongoing. Carti has since been charged with misdemeanor assault in connection with the case, though representatives for the rapper have not yet issued a public statement.

This latest charge adds to a growing list of legal troubles for the Whole Lotta Red artist. In 2017, Carti was arrested for domestic battery after an incident in Los Angeles, though the case was later dismissed. Two years later, in 2019, he was fined in Scotland for allegedly assaulting his tour bus driver while on tour.

In 2020, police in Georgia pulled over his Lamborghini and reportedly found drugs and firearms inside the vehicle; he was arrested and released on bond the following day.

More recently, in December 2022, the Magnolia rapper faced a felony assault charge for allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend during an argument in Atlanta. That case drew significant public attention, adding to a pattern of controversial incidents surrounding the artist.

Playboi Carti, 28, rose to prominence in the mid-2010s with a series of viral mixtapes before achieving mainstream success with hits like “Magnolia,” “Flex,” and “Sky.” Known for his energetic performances and experimental style, Carti has built a devoted fan base but has also faced frequent scrutiny for his offstage behavior.

Authorities in Utah have not yet announced a court date for the current case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
