Rihanna stuns in a crystal mesh Alaïa dress at New York Fashion Week, delivering a heartfelt speech
Rihanna once again proved why she’s a fashion icon as she stepped out in a dazzling crystal mesh dress at New York Fashion Week.
On Friday, Sept. 6, the 36-year-old singer and entrepreneur made a stunning appearance at the Alaïa show, held at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Known for her bold and unique style, Rihanna didn’t disappoint with her latest look, wearing a sparkling semi-sheer mesh dress adorned with crystals.
The outfit, designed by Alaïa, featured draped sleeves and an off-the-shoulder corset top that added a touch of elegance and drama. Rihanna completed the look with a pair of matching stiletto heels, making her appearance even more glamorous.
The striking ensemble was perfect for the event, which attracted top names in the fashion world.
Rihanna’s presence at New York Fashion Week wasn’t limited to just one fabulous look. Earlier in the evening, the singer wore another stunning outfit, this time a pale pink corset-style dress, also designed by Alaïa.
This outfit featured a thigh-high slit down the middle, giving it a bold and daring edge. Rihanna accessorized the look with a soft baby pink teddy coat, which she later removed to deliver a speech at the Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards.
The event, held at the iconic Rainbow Room, was a special night for Rihanna, as she was there to support her close friend and stylist, Jahleel Weaver, who was being honored with the Magazine of the Year award. Weaver is not only Rihanna’s stylist but also the creative director of Fenty Beauty, and the two share a close professional and personal bond.

In a heartfelt and emotional speech, Rihanna expressed her pride and admiration for Weaver. She revealed that she was asked to present the award just 36 hours before the event and wrote her speech while on the way. Despite the short notice, Rihanna’s words were filled with sincerity and love for her friend.
“This evening, I’m here to present an award to someone very special to me,” Rihanna began. “Someone who I’ve watched grow and evolve over the years. I saw you from a fashion baby, in your fashion diapers.
I was also in my fashion diapers at the time, and I’ve been able to witness your growth in ways that most people will never experience.”
She continued to reflect on how Weaver has played a pivotal role in her own growth, particularly in the fashion world. “You have been such a key part of my growth, especially in the fashion aspect of all things. I’m so proud of you,” she said, her voice full of emotion.
Rihanna also touched on Weaver’s dedication to his craft, calling him a “scientist, specialist, student, and teacher” in the world of fashion. “I’ve watched you evolve into someone who constantly pushes the boundaries of creativity,” she added.

At one point during the speech, Rihanna became visibly emotional but kept her signature sense of humor. “I’m not about to cry,” she joked, before admitting that she gets nervous speaking in front of “pretty people.” Despite the nerves, she said it was all worth it to honor Weaver and celebrate his achievements.
The night ended on a high note as Rihanna invited Weaver and Katie Grand, the founder of Perfect Magazine, who was also being honored that evening, to join her on stage.
Rihanna’s presence at New York Fashion Week and the Fashion Media Awards reminded everyone why she remains a force in the fashion industry. From her daring fashion choices to her heartfelt support of those close to her, Rihanna continues to shine, both on and off the runway.
