Shannen Doherty, widely recognized for her role in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” has accused her ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko, of intentionally delaying their divorce proceedings in the hope that she will pass away from her terminal cancer before he is required to pay spousal support.

This accusation was revealed in recent court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Doherty, 53, who filed for divorce in April 2023 after 11 years of marriage, expressed her frustrations in the documents, stating, “It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years.”

The primary issue appears to revolve around Iswarienko’s financial transparency.

Doherty claims that he has not yet provided essential financial information regarding his archive of original photography work.

She argues that this lack of information is delaying the divorce process and creating financial difficulties for her as her health deteriorates.

In response, Iswarienko’s attorney, Katherine Heersema, denied the allegations, asserting that Iswarienko is not waiting for Doherty to die.

“Kurt is not ‘simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die,’” Heersema stated. “He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.”

Heersema also noted that Iswarienko had offered a settlement deal in October 2023, which Doherty rejected.

Doherty contends that she denied the proposed settlements because they did not adequately address the issues of Iswarienko’s original works created during their marriage or his earning capacity.

She is seeking $15,434 per month in spousal support, citing her decreasing income and the impending loss of her Screen Actors Guild (SAG) health insurance as reasons for the request.

The court documents reveal that Doherty’s financial situation has significantly worsened.

She states that her annual income has dropped from an average of $259,708, including her work in 2021 and 2022 and residuals, to slightly over $25,000 so far this year.

Doherty’s lawyers argue that this drastic decrease in income necessitates the spousal support she is requesting.

Additionally, Doherty accuses Iswarienko of maintaining an extravagant lifestyle while she struggles financially.

The filing claims that Iswarienko has been spending large sums of money at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights, despite his claims of having insufficient funds to support her.

“Kurt has been utilizing the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights… while simultaneously claiming he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” the filing reads.

According to the financial calculations presented in court, Iswarienko’s average annual income over the past three years was $672,916, which leaves an average of $56,076 per month spendable.

Doherty’s lawyers argue that the requested spousal support amount of $15,434 per month is a reasonable portion of this monthly income.

Furthermore, Doherty has incurred nearly $160,000 in legal fees throughout the divorce process and is requesting that Iswarienko pay $130,000 for future legal fees, along with $10,000 to clear her current balance owed to her attorneys.

The divorce proceedings between Doherty and Iswarienko have become increasingly contentious, with Doherty’s health adding a layer of urgency to the resolution.

Her claims underscore the emotional and financial strain she is experiencing as she battles terminal cancer while navigating the complexities of divorce.
