The rapper says his post was a “genuine mistake” after critics linked it to the shocking on-stage killing of the conservative pundit.
Rapper Styles P is under fire after fans accused him of mocking the shocking assassination of conservative pundit Charlie Kirk.
Shortly after news broke of Kirk’s death on September 10, the LOX rapper shared a joint Instagram post with Uncle Murda and Tony Yayo.
The caption read, “You be aight !!! We in the mix !!!!!” — and the timing immediately raised eyebrows. Given Styles P’s left-leaning views and the political tensions surrounding Kirk, some fans believed it was a subtle jab at the tragedy.
The situation escalated because the post originally included Uncle Murda’s track “Cam’ron Voice,” which features lyrics about people being shot in front of their kids. Many interpreted that as a cruel nod to how Kirk was killed — in front of his wife and children.
According to hnhh, One angry commenter wrote, “If you referring to the man who got shot and killed on TV in front of his wife and kids you a super duper bozo.” Another warned, “Yea knock that s**t off. If the opportunity arises I’ll show you something.” Despite the criticism, plenty of fans defended Styles P, saying the timing was just an unfortunate coincidence.
Realizing the backlash, Styles quickly addressed the controversy. He insisted it was never meant as a diss and admitted the song choice was a “genuine mistake.” In a follow-up post, he explained:
“I was just showing @unclemurda and @tonyyayo that I knew how to throw up a collab post fast … My word! Then I was like why people bugging?? The universe tried to line me.” He added, “If and when I say something stupid I don’t mind taking ownership for it!!! That was crazy though I must admit!!!”
Meanwhile, Kirk’s death has shaken the political world. The 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder was shot in the neck from 200 yards away during a campus speaking event at Utah Valley University. He was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead shortly after. The FBI has detained two suspects, though the actual shooter remains at large.
Kirk’s assassination follows a disturbing trend of political violence in the U.S., coming just two months after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and the killing of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband in their home.
