Jon Lovett was voted out after the Gata tribe’s defeat in the first episode of ‘Survivor’ season 47; know the full story of the first elimination.
The first episode of the new season of ‘Survivor’ aired on Wednesday night. This season is shot on the beautiful Fiji Islands, where 18 new players compete to win $1 million. These players will face tough challenges, make friends, and try to survive to become the ultimate winner.
Three teams competed
At the beginning of the episode, the 18 players were divided into three teams called ‘Tuku’, ‘Lavo’, and ‘Gata’. Each team had six players. The first challenge was quite tough, with lots of mud, heavy puzzles, and obstacles. The Gata team, dressed in yellow, performed brilliantly and won the supplies they needed for their camp.
This win would keep them strong in the game, but it wasn’t the end. The next challenge would determine which team would be safe and which team would have to send one of their members home.
Immunity Challenge
The second challenge, called the Immunity Challenge, saw all three teams go all out. The team that finishes last would have to go to Tribal Council and have one of their members eliminated. Unfortunately, Team GaTa came in last, leaving them with a tough decision of who to eliminate.
Team Gata consisted of Sierra Wright, Anika Dhar, John Lovett, Any Rueda, and Sam Phalen. They began discussing who to vote out. Annie Rueda had some health issues during the challenge, which some worried could be detrimental to the team. But in the end, she was not eliminated.
Jon Lovett is out
At Tribal Council, GaTa member Jon Lovett was voted out of the game. Jon previously wrote speeches for President Barack Obama and is also the host of a popular podcast called ‘Pod Save America.’ Although Jon had some strong ideas and even titled the episode ‘One Glorious and Perfect Episode,’ the rest of the players felt he wouldn’t be helpful in future challenges.
Most of the team members felt that Jon was not strong enough to lead the team to victory in the upcoming challenges, so they eliminated him. Jon became the first player to be eliminated this season, and now Team GaTa has to work harder with one less member.
What will be the next step for the Gata team?
With Jon out, Team Gata now has to come together to perform well in the upcoming challenges. Sierra, Anika, Any, and Sam now have to work as a team and make sure they don’t lose again. They will also have to think about who they can trust as the game gets tougher ahead.
