Swift faces fan criticism over her friendship with Trump supporter Mahomes
Taylor Swift, the famous singer, is facing criticism from her fans after being seen with Brittany Mahomes, who supports Donald Trump.
Mahomes is married to Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, and her husband’s best friend is Travis Kelce, who is dating Swift. Recently, Swift and Mahomes were seen hugging at the US Open, which upset many of Swift’s fans.
The reason fans are upset is that Swift has been very outspoken about her dislike for Trump. In her 2020 documentary Miss Americana, Swift talked about standing up against Trump and his policies, saying she wanted to be on the “right side of history.”
She even tweeted at Trump, criticizing him for his comments on white supremacy and violence. Back then, she promised to help vote him out of office and supported Joe Biden for president.
Now, many fans feel confused and disappointed because Swift is hanging out with someone who supports Trump. Some fans shared their frustration on Social Media, pointing out that Swift hasn’t spoken up about important political issues recently.

One fan tweeted, “She hasn’t said anything about Palestine, Trump using her image for support, or the anti-LGBTQ+ laws happening.”
Mahomes has also faced criticism in the past for making fun of Swift’s music, saying she only writes about “boys and relationships.” Mahomes also defended her brother-in-law, who was accused of sexual assault, which made fans question why Swift would associate with her.

Trump has even used Swift’s connection with Mahomes to his advantage. He shared fake pictures showing Swift supporting him and claimed there’s a “Swifties for Trump” movement, though this isn’t true. Still, this has made Swift’s fans even more upset. So far, Swift hasn’t said anything publicly about her friendship with Mahomes or her thoughts on the upcoming election.
Many fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment. Some are calling Swift “spineless” for not standing up for her beliefs as she did before. One fan posted a picture of a spine and said, “Swift, you dropped this,” while others used lyrics from her songs to show their frustration.
For example, in her song “The Great War,” there’s a lyric that says “spineless in my tomb of silence,” which fans are now using to criticize Swift. Another fan referenced a line from her song “peace,” where she sings about her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn’s integrity making her feel small, saying, “I guess she found a man where that’s not a problem.”
Overall, fans are feeling let down because they once admired Swift for standing up for what she believed in, and now they see her hanging out with someone who supports Trump, a person she used to speak out against. As of now, Swift hasn’t responded to the criticism.
