Fanatics CEO wants to create special trading cards featuring Swift and Kelce.
Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin has revealed an exciting potential collaboration with Taylor Swift.
During an interview with PEOPLE at the “Holy Grails” auction in New York City on Sept. 25, Rubin shared that his company has been exploring the idea of creating trading cards featuring the pop superstar.
“We should have Taylor Swift cards,” Rubin said, noting that they had asked her about it a year ago. Fanatics, known for its sports trading cards, also creates pop culture decks that include celebrities from music and movies.
While Rubin admitted they didn’t push too hard on the collaboration at the time, he expressed interest in revisiting the idea, especially given Swift’s growing connection to the NFL through her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
Rubin mentioned that a card featuring both Swift and Kelce together would be an exciting possibility. Swift’s presence at NFL games has caused a surge in interest, and sales of Kelce’s jersey spiked by nearly 400% across Fanatics’ sites after she was spotted cheering him on in Kansas City.
Rubin, who founded Fanatics, explained that the goal of the “Holy Grails” auction, which showcased rare sports cards, was to introduce new audiences to trading cards and collectibles.
He also mentioned how his own daughter, Kylie, became more interested in trading cards after the launch of limited-edition cards featuring rapper Travis Scott at Fanatics Fest.
As the relationship between Swift and Kelce continues to make headlines, Rubin remains optimistic about the potential for a collaboration in the future, possibly even featuring the pair on a card together.
