Netflix drops trailer for The Thursday Murder Club, a star-studded mystery featuring retirees solving a real murder.

Netflix has just released the first trailer for The Thursday Murder Club, the star-studded film adaptation of Richard Osman’s best-selling novel.
Premiering August 28, the film brings a quirky and charming murder mystery to life, directed by Harry Potter and Home Alone director Chris Columbus.
The story follows four spirited retirees — Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley), and Joyce (Celia Imrie) — who form a club to solve unsolved murder cases for fun.
But when a real murder takes place in their peaceful retirement village, Coopers Chase, their hobby becomes a full-blown investigation.
The trailer kicks off with a look into a decades-old cold case from 1973, but the real excitement starts when a fresh murder hits close to home.
Joyce, the newest club member, brings comic energy as she exclaims, “There’s been a murder, an actual murder! Now we’ve got a real case to solve. Isn’t it wonderful? Obviously, R.I.P. and all that…”
The film’s screenplay is penned by Katy Brand and Suzanne Heathcote and is produced by Netflix in collaboration with Amblin Entertainment.
The cast is stacked with British talent including Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, and more.
With its witty banter, lovable characters, and a proper whodunit twist, The Thursday Murder Club is shaping up to be a cozy mystery hit this summer.
Mark your calendars for August 28, and get ready to sleuth with the squad!
