Tom Rhys Harries to star in DC Studios’ Clayface, a horror-tinged reboot from James Gunn and Matt Reeves, hitting theaters on September 11, 2026.

Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries has been cast as the lead in DC Studios’ upcoming film Clayface.
The announcement was made by DC co-head James Gunn, who praised Harries’ performance alongside The Batman director Matt Reeves, who is producing the film.
Clayface, written by Mike Flanagan (The Fall of the House of Usher) and directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake), leans more into body horror than traditional superhero fare.
The plot centers on a B-movie actor who ingests a substance meant to boost his career but transforms him into a creature made entirely of clay — reminiscent of Death Becomes Her with a darker tone.
Though not a household name, Harries has appeared in Apple TV’s Suspicion with Uma Thurman, action film Kandahar with Gerard Butler, Guy Ritchie’s The Gentleman, and The Return with Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche.
Production begins this fall, with a theatrical release set for September 11, 2026. ##Clayface is part of DC Studios’ effort to reboot its cinematic universe under Gunn’s leadership following previous missteps with films like The Flash and Black Adam.
The studio’s new phase launches with Superman this summer, also directed by Gunn, followed by Supergirl next year.
