The cast of the new disaster film Twisters, starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos, and David Corenswet, had as much fun off-camera as they did on-screen, as seen in a recently released gag reel. The film, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, has just become available for digital purchase and rental, with bonus content that includes never-before-seen outtakes and deleted scenes.

Twisters follows a group of storm chasers as they face the terrifying power of tornadoes, but the set wasn’t all tension and drama. In the exclusive gag reel, viewers get a glimpse of the lighter moments shared by the cast. One of the highlights features Anthony Ramos and David Corenswet filming a scene inside a car. The mood on set was lighthearted, with Ramos quipping about Corenswet’s upcoming role as Superman in the 2025 film. “Why is Clark Kent yelling at me?” Ramos jokes, referencing his costar’s future superhero gig.

The fun didn’t stop there. The gag reel also shows Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, who play key roles in the film, sharing laughs and even breaking into dance between takes. Their on-screen chemistry appears to carry over into real life, as the two can be seen encouraging each other and making the most of the demanding shoot.

Despite the jovial moments, Twisters was no easy feat to film. The movie’s premise required intense physical and mental preparation from its stars, particularly Edgar-Jones, who revealed the challenges she faced during production at the Los Angeles premiere on July 11. She noted that preparing for the film involved not just physical training, but also getting to grips with the technical jargon associated with meteorology.

“There was physical training and then mental training to try and remember as many complicated weather jargon wordy things that I could,” Edgar-Jones explained. The film involved a lot of action sequences, particularly running, which proved to be more challenging than anticipated. “A lot of just, honestly, running, because I ran a lot in the film. I think no sort of amount of training can prepare you for what it will feel like to have an actual airplane jet engine pointed at you and wind and rain and debris thrown at you.”

The filming experience was intense, to say the least. Edgar-Jones added, “It’s not my strong suit, running, but I’m getting better. … But, to be honest, it was just sort of pretending to be scared and trying to feel what that would be in your body.”

Directed by Oscar-nominated Lee Isaac Chung, best known for his work on Minari, Twisters also features a talented ensemble cast that includes Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Paul Scheer, and Kiernan Shipka. The film aims to capture the raw, unpredictable nature of tornadoes, and the cast’s commitment to their roles is evident both in the final product and in the behind-the-scenes footage.

Twisters is now playing in theaters and is available for digital purchase and rental. The home release promises to offer fans a closer look at the making of the film, with bonus content that includes not only the gag reel but also deleted scenes that didn’t make the final cut. For those interested in the lighter side of what it takes to create such an intense film, the gag reel is a must-watch.
