USA Network has officially pulled the plug on its hit sci-fi dramedy Resident Alien even before the fourth season wraps up.

Variety Conform the news that the network decided not to renew the series, though fans can still catch the final three episodes, which will air on their originally scheduled dates over the next few weeks.

Originally premiering on Syfy in 2021, Resident Alien made a network jump after three seasons, landing on USA this June for its fourth run. From the outset of Season 4, creator and showrunner Chris Sheridan suspected this might be the show’s swan song—and he used that knowledge to craft a tighter, more conclusive storyline.

“Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending,” Sheridan told TV Insider.

He added that he’s immensely proud of Season 4’s quality and especially the finale, which he calls his favorite episode yet.

Sheridan also hinted that while the series finale will deliver a “very satisfying ending,” it will leave a crack in the door open for potential future stories within the same world. That ambiguity gives fans hope for spinoffs or maybe even revivals down the line.

The show stars Alan Tudyk as “Harry Vanderspeigle,” an alien operative who crash-lands on Earth with orders to wipe out humanity. In taking on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor, Harry starts to develop a surprising fondness for humans—and that moral awakening sits at the heart of the show’s blend of humor, drama, and occasional alien-tech mayhem.

The ensemble cast also features Sara Tomko as Town Council Chair Asta Twelvetrees, Corey Reynolds as Sheriff Mike Thompson, Alice Wetterlund as Dr. Claire Finn, plus Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, Judah Prehn, and Meredith Garretson in key supporting roles.

USA Network airs new Resident Alien episodes on Fridays, with each installment becoming available on Peacock a week later.

The bittersweet series finale is scheduled for Friday, August 8—mark your calendars for what promises to be an emotional send-off for the little green man who taught us all a thing or two about humanity.
