Justin Timberlake's new solo release, "Selfish," is the favorite new music choice of the week according to a Billboard poll.

The pop star's first solo release in over five years secured almost 77% of the vote in the poll.

"Selfish" is the debut track from Timberlake's upcoming sixth solo album, "Everything I Thought It Was," scheduled for release on March 15.

The song has a silky, R&B-leaning style and was introduced at a free hometown concert in Memphis on Jan. 19.

Justin Timberlake performed "Selfish" on Saturday Night Live on Jan. 27 and also debuted another new song, "Sanctified," featuring Houston rapper Tobe Nwigwe.

The lyrics of "Selfish" reflect themes of jealousy and desire, with Timberlake singing about wanting every bit of someone.

The song was co-written with notable collaborators, including Louis Bell (Taylor Swift) and Cirkut (Maroon 5).

Timberlake mentioned working extensively on his upcoming album, revealing that he had initially composed around 100 songs.

The process of narrowing down the selection to 18 tracks was a challenge for the artist.

Timberlake expressed excitement about the upcoming album, calling it his best work during an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1.

"Everything I Thought It Was" is the follow-up to Timberlake's 2018 solo album, "Man of the Woods," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The poll results showed an "other" category gaining 12% of the vote, following "Selfish," and Megan Thee Stallion's "Hiss" securing third place with 5% of the vote.
