The fan-favorite survival drama will wrap up its chilling mystery with one final season, set to begin production in 2026.

The wild and mysterious ride of Yellowjackets is coming to an end.
Paramount+ and Showtime confirmed that the survival thriller will officially wrap up with its upcoming fourth season. Production for the final episodes is expected to kick off in 2026, giving fans one last chapter to sink their teeth into.
In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram, showrunners and executive producers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson revealed that the decision to end the series came after much reflection.
“After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” they wrote. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen.”
The creators thanked the cast, crew, and fans, affectionately called “the Hive,” for sticking with the show’s many mysteries, shocking moments, and dark humor. “Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience,” they added. “We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it… delicious.”
Yellowjackets became a breakout hit when it first premiered in 2021, quickly earning praise for its mix of survival horror, psychological drama, and coming-of-age storytelling.
The series follows a talented high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes deep in the wilderness. As the survivors struggle to stay alive, they descend into chaos and violence. The show also jumps between timelines, showing how the trauma of the past still haunts them 25 years later.
The ensemble cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, and Samantha Hanratty. Season 3 also featured guest appearances by Hilary Swank, Joel McHale, and Elijah Wood, adding even more star power to the acclaimed series.
The show’s popularity has only grown over time. Paramount renewed Yellowjackets for Season 4 back in May after seeing a 19% increase in viewership compared to the Season 2 finale. The renewal came just before the merger between Paramount and Skydance, which brought new leadership and a reshaped content strategy for the network.
While the story is set to close, fans can look forward to a satisfying conclusion that ties together years of mystery and emotional storytelling. There are also ongoing talks to extend Lyle and Nickerson’s partnership with Paramount, meaning their creative journey with the network might continue beyond Yellowjackets.
For now, the Hive can rest easy knowing that the show’s end is part of the plan — and the final season promises to be just as haunting, thrilling, and unforgettable as the journey that came before.
