Rapper Rod Wave had one of the biggest days of his career turn into one of the toughest after he was arrested on drug and weapons charges in Atlanta on Friday, the very same day he scored his first-ever Grammy nomination.

According to Atlanta jail records, the 27-year-old star — whose real name is Rodarius Green — was taken into custody and charged with two counts of controlled substance possession, reckless driving, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony.

Rod Wave was released Saturday morning after posting an $8,000 bond, his legal team confirmed. His lawyers — Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, and Zack Findling — issued a fiery statement calling the arrest “unjust profiling,” claiming the police officer involved is part of a quota-driven crime suppression unit.

“Mr. Green was targeted as part of this quota-driven approach, a practice that undermines justice and erodes community trust,” the attorneys said. “We look forward to vigorously challenging this baseless arrest and the clear violations of Mr. Green’s rights in court.”

As of Sunday, the Atlanta Police Department has not commented publicly on what led to the arrest or whether others were involved.

This isn’t the first time the “Heart on Ice” rapper has faced legal trouble. Earlier this year, Rod Wave was arrested in Fulton County, Georgia — where Atlanta is located — on more than a dozen charges, including aggravated assault and battery. His team previously told the Associated Press that there was “no truth” to those allegations.

The timing couldn’t have been worse — or more ironic. Just hours before the arrest, Rod Wave had been celebrating his first Grammy nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Sinners”, which appeared in the horror movie of the same name.

Rod Wave has built a massive following for his emotional blend of rap and soulful R&B, often reflecting on pain, poverty, and perseverance. His music has resonated with millions who see him as one of the most authentic voices in modern hip-hop.

Despite his growing success, Rod Wave’s career has often been shadowed by run-ins with the law and struggles with fame.
