Kat Dennings Says Marvel Still Has Her Digitally — and Darcy Lewis Could Pop Up Anytime

Kat Dennings says Marvel scanned her during Thor, meaning her fan-favorite character Darcy could still appear — even if she’s not filming.

Kat Dennings may not be suiting up for Avengers: Doomsday, but that doesn’t mean Marvel is done with her just yet.

The actress, best known to Marvel fans as the quick-witted Darcy Lewis from the Thor films and WandaVision, recently shared that Marvel Studios digitally scanned her during her earlier MCU work. That scan, she says, keeps her firmly “in the system.”

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Dennings was clear — and a little playful — about her current status. “I’m in the universe, and as you know, I can’t tell you anything, but I am not in [Doomsday],” she said.

She doubled down with a laugh, adding that she truly isn’t involved and wasn’t part of any recent filming.

Still, the technology leaves the door wide open. “They did scan me,” Dennings explained. “So to be honest, they could put me in anything they want at this point. Who knows? I’m in the system!”

From a fan’s point of view, that’s an exciting thought. Darcy became a surprise standout in the MCU — first as comic relief in Thor, then as a full-fledged scientist in WandaVision. Even a brief cameo would be enough to thrill longtime viewers.

Dennings’ comments also spotlight a bigger conversation happening in Hollywood. Body scanning has become common for large franchises, allowing studios to recreate actors digitally if needed.

Charlize Theron has confirmed undergoing a similar scan for Marvel, while concerns around AI use continue to grow. In the UK, members of Equity recently voted to refuse on-set scans amid worries over consent and control.

For now, Marvel has confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday is packed with familiar faces, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, who appeared in recent teasers. Whether Darcy Lewis shows up in some unexpected way remains to be seen.

As Dennings puts it: she’s not in the movie — but she’s never really out of the Marvel universe either.
