Neil Young has canceled his planned 2026 U.K. and European tour with the Chrome Hearts, apologizing to fans and saying, “This is not the time.”
Neil Young has canceled his planned 2026 U.K. and European tour with his band, the Chrome Hearts, telling fans that “this is not the time” for him to be on the road.
In a message posted Friday (Feb. 6) on his official website, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee announced that he has decided to step back from touring Europe this year.
“I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time,” Young wrote. “Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time.
I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts.” He signed the note simply, “LOVE Neil,” adding, “be well.”
The tour had been scheduled to begin June 17 in Bodelva, England, and run through July 26 in Udine, Italy. Elvis Costello and the Imposters were set to open select dates.
Young’s Chrome Hearts lineup includes guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony Logerfo, and organist Spooner Oldham.
No specific reason was given for the cancellation beyond Young’s desire to take a break. Ticket holders are expected to receive refunds through their original point of purchase.
The announcement follows a high-profile and politically active stretch for the 79-year-old musician. In January, Young made headlines after offering a year of free access to his music catalog to residents of Greenland.
The gesture came after the Trump administration announced plans to pursue U.S. control of the island nation.
“I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government,” Young wrote at the time.
Calling the offer one of “Peace and Love,” he added that Greenland residents could renew the free access as long as they remain in the country and encouraged other organizations to follow suit.
Young has also recently criticized major corporations, including Apple, Verizon, and T-Mobile, for what he described as supporting the “fascist Trump regime.”
Despite the canceled tour, Young reassured fans of his enduring passion for live performance, signaling that while Europe will have to wait, he has not ruled out future shows.
