Kylie Jenner is no stranger to cameras, but stepping onto a movie set was a whole new experience—even for someone who’s grown up in the public eye.

In The Moment, Charli xcx’s satirical new film inspired by the cultural chaos around her Brat era, Jenner makes her official film acting debut by playing a fictionalized version of herself. And the role came together in the most Kylie way possible: she asked for it.

Rather than being courted by Hollywood, Jenner took matters into her own hands during a casual conversation on a shared flight with Charli xcx and director Aidan Zamiri. As Jenner later joked, her pitch was simple and direct: “Put me in the film!” It wasn’t about ego—it was about curiosity.

Jenner has been open about wanting to try things that push her beyond her comfort zone, and this project felt like the right leap.

From Zamiri’s perspective, Jenner’s willingness to poke fun at her own image made the casting feel natural. The film leans heavily into satire, and Jenner doesn’t shy away from exaggerating how the public sometimes views her. In fact, she even joked about not being “really a bitch,” despite how she comes off in the movie.

That self-awareness is part of what makes her brief appearance land.

Still, the experience wasn’t completely easy. Jenner admitted she felt nervous leading up to filming, even though she’s spent most of her life in front of cameras. Acting, she explained, felt different—more vulnerable—especially doing something she’d never tried before with a full crew watching. Once filming began, though, that anxiety faded quickly.

After the first take, she felt grounded and confident, helped by preparation and support from friends and family.

Interestingly, Jenner decided against working with an acting coach. Since she was playing a version of herself and only appeared in the film for a few minutes, she chose instead to rehearse informally with people she trusted.

That low-pressure approach seemed to work.

Charli xcx later praised Jenner during a Q&A in Brooklyn, calling the experience effortless and fun. She noted that the film’s first scene featured Rachel Sennott and the final scene was shot with Jenner—bookending the project with two very different but equally iconic personalities playing themselves.

The Moment, which also stars Kate Berlant, Rosanna Arquette, and Alexander Skarsgård, is now in theaters. And while Jenner’s screen time may be short, her debut makes a lasting impression—one that shows she’s ready to take risks, laugh at herself, and explore what’s next beyond reality TV and beauty empires.
