American Express has filed a lawsuit against Ray J, claiming the singer owes nearly $80,000 in unpaid credit card debt tied to his account.

Financial disputes are nothing new in the entertainment world, but singer and entrepreneur Ray J is once again dealing with legal pressure after a major credit card company took him to court.
According to legal filings, American Express has sued Ray J, accusing him of failing to pay a large outstanding balance on one of his credit cards.
The company claims the performer owes $78,704.56 and has asked a judge to enforce the repayment through a breach-of-contract lawsuit.
The lawsuit does not only name Ray J personally. It also includes a company called Rajun Cajun Inc., which American Express alleges is connected to the singer in some capacity.
However, court documents reportedly do not clearly explain how the company is tied to the disputed account or what role it played in the alleged debt.
People close to Ray J have indicated that the situation may not turn into a long legal battle. Sources say the entertainer plans to pay off the debt, suggesting the dispute could be resolved without extended courtroom drama.
Still, the new lawsuit highlights a pattern that has followed the singer in recent months.
This is not the first time American Express has taken legal action against Ray J over unpaid balances. In December, the company filed another lawsuit claiming he owed $139,849.85 on a separate credit card account.
That case also involved one of his business ventures, Tronix Network.
Ray J, known for both his music career and reality television appearances, has also built a reputation as a tech entrepreneur through various business projects.
But like many celebrities who manage multiple ventures, financial and legal disputes can sometimes follow behind the scenes.
The timing of the lawsuit also adds to a growing list of legal matters surrounding the entertainer. Ray J has been involved in an ongoing dispute connected to reality TV figures Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, a situation that has drawn widespread attention online and in entertainment media.
With multiple legal issues unfolding at the same time, Ray J appears to be navigating a busy stretch in courtrooms as well as in the public eye.
When approached for comment regarding the new American Express lawsuit, Ray J reportedly declined to respond publicly.
For now, the case remains active, though if the reported repayment plan moves forward, it could close one chapter of the singer’s ongoing legal challenges sooner rather than later.
