Tragic news has shaken the drag community as Misua, a rising star set to appear on Drag Race: Philippines, has died at the age of 27.

On Thursday, April 2, the show and its production company World of Wonder confirmed the heartbreaking news in a joint Instagram post. According to the announcement, Misua died in her sleep earlier that morning.

“We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race: Philippines, passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2,” the statement read. The post also described her as someone who “brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her.”

Following the loss, production on the upcoming season has been paused. The team shared that the decision was made to support the cast and crew during this difficult time, adding that their thoughts are with Misua’s loved ones.

They also noted that they are in contact with her family, who have requested privacy.

At this time, the exact cause of Misua’s death has not been revealed.

Tributes quickly poured in from across the drag world. Hannah Conda from RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under shared her grief, writing, “Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. I love you all and sending my love! She was an absolute star!”

Blue Hydrangea also expressed sorrow, commenting, “Devastating! Sending all my love to everyone involved.”

Misua, whose real name was Jayson Elvie Ty, was remembered by her family as a beloved son, brother, and friend. In a Facebook tribute, they shared, “Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends.”

According to her official bio, Misua was a queen from Cagayan de Oro known for her strong creative vision. A graphic designer by profession and a performer for eight years, she was recognized for crafting nearly every detail of her drag herself — from outfits and hair to nails and visual content.

Her drag name, Misua, was inspired by her grandfather’s favorite comfort food.

The fourth season of Drag Race: Philippines had been announced in October 2025 and was expected to air later this year. The show’s third season previously saw Maxie win the competition, with Khianna finishing as runner-up.
