Script Theft Allegations Hit ‘Dhurandhar’ — Is Aditya Dhar Really in Trouble?

In Bollywood, drama moves fast — sometimes faster than the hype, and right now, “Dhurandhar” is smack in the middle of it. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, is facing serious script theft allegations.

The controversy began when filmmaker Santosh Kumar claimed that the story of “Dhurandhar” closely resembles a script he had previously written. According to him, his script titled ‘D Saheb’ was already registered and shared with members of the film industry, which makes you wonder how eerily similar ideas ended up in another project.

However, Aditya Dhar and his team have strongly denied these accusations, calling the whole thing baseless. They maintain that the film is an original work and argue that such claims, especially when made publicly, can do real damage to someone’s name — with zero proof to back it up.

Then things got legal — the matter reached the Bombay High Court, where it was taken up on April 8, 2026. During the hearing, Justice Arif Doctor reviewed the arguments and issued an interim order, directing Santosh Kumar to refrain from making any defamatory statements against Aditya Dhar or the film until further proceedings. That basically muzzles the public allegations — for now.

The court has now scheduled the next hearing for April 16, 2026, which is expected to bring more clarity to the situation. Interestingly, despite being served with a legal notice, Santosh Kumar has not yet filed a response or appeared before the court, which only makes this whole thing messier.

Look, this isn’t the first time Bollywood — or Hollywood — has dealt with this. A similar controversy surrounded the Hollywood film “The Holdovers,” when writer Simon Stephenson alleged that the screenplay had been copied “line by line,” proving no project is too big to catch a plagiarism accusation.

For now, all eyes remain on how the case unfolds in court. Whether this is a real case or just noise — the April 16 hearing is when things get interesting.
