American rapper Offset is back in the news, but this time it’s not for his music—it’s due to legal issues. According to a recent report, the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit has filed a lawsuit against Offset over an alleged $100,000 debt.
According to TMZ, Offset opened a $100,000 line of credit while playing at the casino in March 2024. The casino tried more than once to reach him regarding the outstanding balance, but when nothing got sorted out, they attempted to withdraw the amount from his account under their mutual agreement. However, his account reportedly did not have sufficient funds to cover the full amount, so they sued.
Offset’s representative responded to the situation by stating that they are “working toward a resolution.” Meanwhile, the casino has accused him of breach of contract, fraud, and other related offenses.
The lawsuit dropped right after a serious incident involving the rapper. Offset was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. According to police, he was approached by a group led by rapper Lil Tjay. An argument broke out and things got physical fast, during which a member of Tjay’s group fired a gun. Offset was struck in the leg and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, Lil Tjay and one of his associates were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Reports suggest that Offset and Lil Tjay have been in a dispute for over a year, allegedly over a $10,000 debt that Offset owes Tjay. After the shooting, several individuals also came forward with claims that Offset owed them money. Among them were former NFL player Dez Bryant and social media influencer Celina Powell. Bryant claimed that Offset owes him $8,000 from a previous bet, while Powell alleged that he owes her $15,000.
Even with all this blowing up around him, Offset has reportedly continued gambling. Not long after being released from the hospital, he was reportedly seen back at the poker tables at the same Hard Rock casino where the shooting occurred.
