The ongoing legal dispute between Hollywood actress Blake Lively and actor-filmmaker Justin Baldoni appears set to continue, as recent settlement discussions failed to reach any resolution. The case is now moving forward toward the trial scheduled for next month.

On Monday, attorneys for both sides were called to confer with U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave. During the discussions, both parties were asked to present their updated settlement positions, but the talks went nowhere. Both sides declined to agree to any deal that would have prevented the trial set for May 18.

Earlier, District Judge Lewis Liman dismissed 10 out of the 13 claims brought by Blake Lively. This ruling narrowed the scope of her case and marked a setback for her legal position. However, the dispute now centers on allegations that Baldoni’s PR team conducted an online campaign against Lively ahead of the film’s premiere.

In a recent statement, Lively made clear this is still the heart of what she’s fighting for. She also urged her supporters not to view the situation as a “digital drama” but to stay focused on the facts.

Neither side said anything publicly regarding the latest developments. Before that, there had been multiple attempts to resolve the matter without going to trial. Late last year, Judge Liman directed both parties to sit down and talk settlement, and they even met face-to-face in court, but no agreement was reached.

In February, Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman acknowledged that, despite several efforts, attempts to reach a settlement had been unsuccessful.

A deal looks dead at this point, with both sides remaining firm in their positions.

The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has now moved closer to trial after failed settlement talks. With both sides standing firm and no agreement reached, it’s all heading to court. Do you think this dispute should have been settled privately, or is a public trial the right way to resolve it?
