Country Music Hall of Famer Marty Stuart is recovering after a winter storm fall left him unable to play guitar, forcing postponed shows.
Country music legend Marty Stuart is taking an unexpected break from the road after a painful fall on icy Nashville streets left him with a hand injury and sprained wrist, temporarily sidelining one of the genre’s most beloved performers.
The 67-year-old Country Music Hall of Famer shared the news directly with fans, explaining that the accident resulted in a hairline fracture that has made it impossible for him to play guitar or mandolin — a devastating setback for a musician whose life has been defined by those instruments.
Using humor to soften the blow, Stuart described the injured hand as once being the “Mojo Hand” and “Hard Working Hand,” before joking that the icy fall proved otherwise. Still, the seriousness of the injury is clear. “The worst part of it all is I can’t play the guitar or the mandolin, at the moment,” he admitted.
While Stuart reassured fans that his condition is improving daily, the injury has forced him and his band, The Superlatives, to postpone several upcoming concerts. He offered a sincere apology for the inconvenience and promised they will return “in full force just as soon as possible.”
The accident occurred during a historic winter storm that hit Nashville on January 25, 2026, leaving hundreds of thousands without power and creating dangerous conditions across the city. The storm’s effects lingered for days, with school closures, power outages, and icy roads impacting daily life throughout the region.
Fans quickly rallied around Stuart, flooding his social media with encouragement, prayers, and even lighthearted jokes about him learning to play with his feet.
The outpouring reflects the deep connection he has built with audiences over decades as a Grand Ole Opry member and ambassador for traditional country music.
According to Stuart’s official website, his next scheduled performance is currently set for March 19 in Lexington, Kentucky, though February show updates are still pending. Fans seeking refunds have been advised to contact their point of purchase.
