Miley Cyrus didn’t attend the 2025 Oscars just for the fashion, the speeches, or the after-parties. She went with a mission — and it worked.

The Grammy-winning singer recently shared that she used Hollywood’s biggest night as a chance to quietly pitch herself to filmmakers who might need original music for their projects. Instead of waiting for offers to come her way, Cyrus decided to put herself out there, one conversation at a time.

According to Miley, whenever someone introduced themselves at the Oscars, she kept things simple. Her response was usually some version of, “If you ever need music, I’m around.” No big sales pitch. No pressure. Just a casual reminder that she’s ready to create.

That same approach already paid off in a major way.

Cyrus explained that she used a similar tactic when she crossed paths with director James Cameron at the 2024 D23 Expo. Knowing Cameron had been deep in the world of Avatar for years, she casually mentioned that she’d love to contribute music if the opportunity ever came up. The timing turned out to be perfect, and that conversation eventually led to her song “Dream As One” appearing in the end credits of Avatar: Fire and Ash, now playing in theaters.

For Miley, these moments aren’t carefully planned business moves — they’re natural conversations driven by curiosity and creativity. She says things often happen “organically,” especially when artists simply speak up about what they love to do.

This isn’t the first time her direct approach has opened doors. Cyrus shared that she once did the same thing with Jamie Lee Curtis. That casual connection eventually helped her land the song “Beautiful That Way,” which earned a Golden Globe nomination after being featured in Gia Coppola’s film The Last Showgirl.

What motivates Miley most is the emotional power of music in movies and TV. She says songs often become inseparable from the stories they’re part of. When people hear certain tracks, they don’t just remember the music — they remember the scenes, the characters, and how those moments made them feel.

She’s even open to television projects. Cyrus revealed that she floated the idea of writing music for a future season of Baby Reindeer, admitting she didn’t know what kind of song it would need — but she wanted to be part of that world too.

For Miley Cyrus, the Oscars weren’t just an awards show. They were proof that sometimes, simply showing up, speaking honestly, and believing in your craft can lead to unexpected creative wins.
