Rio mayor bans Chappell Roan from “Todo Mundo no Rio” after Jorginho Frello claims security incident involving his stepdaughter.

Chappell Roan has addressed the controversy, sharing her side of the story after a public dispute that has now drawn in city officials in Brazil.
The situation began when Brazilian soccer star Jorginho Frello claimed that a member of Roan’s security team acted rudely toward his stepdaughter ahead of her scheduled appearance at Lollapalooza Brazil 2026 in São Paulo.
The allegation quickly gained attention online.
Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere responded publicly on X (formerly Twitter), taking a firm stance against the singer. Reposting a screenshot of Frello’s statement, Cavaliere wrote that Roan would not be welcome to perform at the city’s high-profile “Todo Mundo no Rio” concert series during his tenure.
“As long as I’m in charge of our city, this young lady will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio,” he wrote, adding that he did not believe an artist like Shakira would behave in a similar way.
Cavaliere also extended support to Frello’s family, announcing that the player’s stepdaughter would be invited as a special guest to the upcoming event in May.
“By the way, your little one is already the guest of honor from the organization,” he added.
“Todo Mundo no Rio” is a large-scale, free concert series held on Copacabana Beach. The event launched in 2024 with a performance by Madonna that drew a reported 1.6 million attendees.
The following year, Lady Gaga’s appearance brought in an even larger crowd of approximately 2.5 million people.
The annual event has quickly become one of the biggest live music gatherings in the world, with international headliners and massive audiences. Shakira is set to headline this year’s edition.
While Roan has now broken her silence regarding the incident, the mayor’s comments have added a new layer to the situation, raising questions about whether the singer could appear at the event in the future.
For now, the dispute remains unresolved, with both sides drawing significant public attention as the story continues to unfold.
