Five days after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Arizona home, investigators expand the search as her family begs for answers.
Five days into an agonizing mystery, the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie—mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie—has drawn national attention, a growing law enforcement response, and a family’s public plea for help.
Federal and local authorities announced a $50,000 reward this week for information that leads to Nancy’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved.
The FBI is working alongside the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, deploying additional agents and analysts as the case deepens with few clear answers.
“This is an all-hands-on-deck effort,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke, emphasizing that teams are working around the clock. Despite the expanded search, investigators stressed that no suspect or person of interest has been identified so far.
Sheriff Chris Nanos underscored that point during a press briefing, pushing back on speculation spreading online. “We have nobody of interest or any suspects that you would consider a prime suspect,” he said, adding that claims about forced entry at Nancy’s home are unverified and premature.
What authorities have shared instead is a tight and troubling timeline. Nancy, 84, was last seen on January 31 at her Arizona residence. In the early hours of February 1, her doorbell camera was disconnected at 1:47 a.m. Although motion was detected shortly after 2:12 a.m., no video footage exists.
Inside the home, investigators later found what they described as “very concerning” evidence, prompting them to treat the case as a crime.
“I believe she was abducted,” Nanos told reporters. “She didn’t go willingly.”
As investigators work behind the scenes, the Guthrie family has taken their fear public. In an emotional Instagram video, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings addressed whoever may be holding their mother, describing her fragile health and urgent need for medication.
“She needs it to survive,” Savannah said, asking for proof of life and signaling the family’s willingness to communicate—carefully and safely.
The case has reached the highest levels of government. President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had spoken with Savannah and ordered federal law enforcement to assist fully in the effort to bring Nancy home.
For now, the search continues, fueled by hope, prayer, and a family’s unwavering belief that answers—and Nancy—can still be found.
