“Stranger Things” Season 5 confirms runtimes for its final episodes, with the series finale clocking in at two hours and eight minutes.

Netflix has officially revealed the runtimes for the final four episodes of Stranger Things, confirming that the beloved sci-fi series will end with an extended, movie-length finale.
Series co-creator Ross Duffer shared the details via Instagram, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the length of Season 5’s remaining episodes. After the first four episodes premiered on Nov. 26, Stranger Things will return with three more episodes on Christmas Day, followed by the series finale on New Year’s Eve.
Episode 5, titled “Shock Jock,” will run for one hour and eight minutes. Episode 6, “Escape from Camazotz,” is slightly longer at one hour and 15 minutes. Episode 7, “The Bridge,” clocks in at one hour and six minutes. The final chapter, Episode 8, “The Rightside Up,” will serve as the show’s longest episode this season, running two hours and eight minutes.
The newly confirmed runtimes closely match those of the first half of Season 5 and push back against viral rumors that claimed every episode would be between 90 minutes and two hours long. Those reports, including one from Puck News, sparked major discussion online but have now been proven inaccurate.
Much of the speculation likely stemmed from Season 4, which marked a major shift in the show’s episode lengths. While the first three seasons mostly featured hour-long installments, Season 4 expanded significantly, with episodes running at least 70 minutes.
The final three episodes of that season were nearly movie-length, with the finale “The Piggyback” reaching an impressive two hours and 22 minutes.
Stranger Things was created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, who executive produce the series under their Upside Down Pictures banner. The show is also executive produced by Shawn Levy through 21 Laps Entertainment, along with Dan Cohen.
As the series prepares to close its doors for good, fans can expect a finale that’s long enough to deliver an emotional and epic goodbye to Hawkins.
